Imran Khan is the leader of the political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which translates to “Movement for Justice”. The party has been involved in politics since 1996, but only made it into power following elections held in July 2018. In these elections, PTI won 115 seats out of 272 seats contested, giving them enough seats to form a government. The party also received 24% of the popular vote.
What happened during Imran Khan’s arrest?
The arrest took place at an address in London on November 7th after police were called over allegations that two women had been murdered by their husbands or partners over honor killings.
“Officers attended an address… [and] arrested a man for murder,” Scotland Yard said.
“The investigation relates to the deaths of two women and four children.”
“Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation at this stage.”
