Manimegalai was the first Indian to compete in MasterChef Australia.

The first Indian contestant to compete on MasterChef Australia, Manimegalai, has had her dreams crushed. The 20-year-old engineering student was eliminated from the competition after failing to impress judges with her cooking skills. It’s a shame that Manimegalai didn’t make it further in the competition, as she is only the second person of Indian descent to ever appear on the show. However, despite this being her first time competing in a cooking show and on national television, Manimegalai still managed to make it all the way to episode four of MasterChef Australia Season 11.

What is MasterChef Australia?

MasterChef Australia is an Australian competitive cooking reality show based on a British format of the same name. The show sees amateur cooks compete against each other for a chance at winning $250,000 and publication of their own cookbook. Contestants are given challenges that test their culinary skills and knowledge under strict time limits. The contestants are judged by prominent chefs who can send them home if they don’t like what they see.

Who is Manimegalai?

Manimegalai was born in Chennai and moved to Melbourne when she was nine years old. She started watching MasterChef when she was 15 years old and became inspired by how contestants were able to showcase their talent through food. She has been interested in food ever since she can remember and loves experimenting with different flavours.
