The festival of Mahashivratri is a night long celebration of the Hindu god Shiva.

Shivaratri, also known as Mahashivratri, is a Hindu festival that celebrates the god Shiva. The festival is celebrated on the 13th night or 14th day of the new moon in Phalguna month (February/March). While there are many traditions associated with this festival, it is mainly celebrated as a night-long vigil. On this day, devotees gather to worship Lord Shiva and fast through the night. Some devotees even stay awake all night to perform intense meditation and yoga exercises.

The celebration takes place at temples dedicated to Lord Shiva across India and Nepal. It’s believed that worshipping at these temples during Shivaratri will bring prosperity and well-being in life. Many people also visit rivers and holy water bodies to offer prayers to Lord Shiva on this day.
