Why do MPS stand up and sit down

Why do MPs stand up and sit down?

MPs are expected to vote in favour of the government in the vast majority of votes, but there are some occasions when they might be tempted to rebel. However, voting against the government could have serious consequences for their careers. That’s why most MPs choose to abstain or vote with the government on most occasions. But why do they stand up and sit down when they do so? It’s not a requirement, but it is considered polite to show your support for a bill by standing up.

Standing up and sitting down is also a way for MPs to show their support for issues that aren’t covered by votes. If an MP wants to show his or her support for an issue that isn’t being voted on at the time, he or she can stand up and sit down again as many times as he or she likes.
