Chelsea players will wear black armbands in their match against Liverpool on October 27th, as a mark of respect for the victims of the Paris attacks. The Premier League game between Chelsea and Liverpool is set to be played at Stamford Bridge at 17:30 BST. The fixture is one of several matches taking place across Europe and around the world that day to remember those who lost their lives in terror attacks in Paris, Beirut and Ouagadougou.

The French flag has been flown at half-mast above Premier League grounds since November 2015, when a series of coordinated terrorist attacks took place across Paris. There were 130 people killed and hundreds more injured by terrorists during this time. Those who died were mostly young people attending an Eagles Of Death Metal concert at Bataclan theatre, but others were killed while eating out or enjoying a night out.

On Saturday, Arsenal wore shirts with “PARIS” printed on them during their match against Cardiff City as part of this week’s global show of solidarity with France. Players from Manchester United also had “Pray for Paris” written on their shirts last year when they played against PSG in honour of those who died in the November 2015 attacks.
