YouTube was banned in Pakistan on November 3rd, 2018. The ban has been lifted and YouTube is working again.

Pakistan’s Supreme Court has temporarily lifted a ban on the video-sharing website YouTube, imposed after a video was posted insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. The ban was imposed in September 2018 following violent protests over the video.

The decision to lift the ban came from a three-judge panel of the court that heard a petition challenging the blockage.

The court had earlier refused to take up the case, but changed its mind after an appeal by lawyer Faisal Siddiqui who argued that there were not enough legal grounds for banning YouTube.
