What is Good Friday?

Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on April 3rd, 33 AD. He was crucified by Roman soldiers along with two thieves and died at around 3pm. His death led to his resurrection three days later on Easter Sunday.

Why do we celebrate Good Friday?

While Good Friday has been around for centuries, it wasn’t until 2010 that it became an official holiday in England. This decision was met with controversy from some religious groups who felt that making a day off work for Christians only was unfair to non-Christians.

The decision was eventually passed after a lengthy debate, although there were still calls for Muslims and Jews to be given their own holidays as well.
