Gypsy Rose Blanchard is serving a 10-year sentence for her role in the murder of her mother.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is currently serving a 10-year sentence for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. The case has made international headlines due to its shocking nature and Gypsy’s heartbreaking story. Gypsy was born with several severe medical conditions that affected her mobility and appearance. She had a chromosomal disorder known as CDKL5, which causes developmental delays and learning disabilities, as well as scoliosis and muscular dystrophy. In order to cope with the difficulties associated with these conditions, Gypsy’s mother began pretending that she was sicker than she actually was. This led to Dee Dee claiming that Gypsy required frequent hospital visits and constant care from doctors, but in reality she didn’t need nearly as much help.

Dee Dee convinced people that Gypsy was severely disabled by claiming she suffered from leukemia, muscular dystrophy, seizures, sleep apnea, asthma and food allergies. She also created a fake Facebook profile under the name “Gypsee” where she pretended to be her daughter.

In 2010 things came to a head when Gypsy became involved with Nicholas Godejohn through an online relationship. He would later go on to stab Dee Dee in June 2015 while he was visiting their home in Springfield Missouri. The murder occurred after Godejohn had travelled across state lines into Missouri so he could meet up with Gypsy at their home.
