The petrol pumps in the United Kingdom are closed as a result of Brexit.

As the United Kingdom prepares to leave the European Union on October 31st, 2019, many businesses and organizations have begun to prepare for the worst. One of these is the British Petroleum Association (BPA), which represents petrol station owners in England and Wales. The BPA has announced that it will be closing all of its pumps on October 31st, as a precautionary measure against civil unrest or even worse. In order to help alleviate some of the panic that might come from this news, here’s a look at why petrol pumps are being closed across England and Wales.

Why are petrol pumps being closed?

As part of its contingency planning for Brexit, BP has announced that it will be closing all 8200 of its petrol stations in England and Wales on October 31st. The move is intended to ensure that there is no chance of any supply disruption from fuel shortages if things go wrong when Britain leaves the European Union.

The announcement came after Prime Minister Boris Johnson had already advised British citizens to stock up on food supplies just in case things went wrong when Britain left the European Union without a deal on October 31st.
