The moon is currently a perfect circle.

In an unusual event, the moon was perfectly circular in mid-2021. This was a rare occurrence, as the moon’s orbit is elliptical and it’s only ever seen as a full circle when it’s at its closest point to Earth. The moon appeared circular on May 21st, 2021. It wasn’t visible in most of North America due to clouds and rain, but could be seen clearly in South America and parts of Europe.

The last time this happened was in March 2019, although this time around the full circle was visible from North America too.
