In a poll conducted by YouGov, The Sun was named the UK’s worst newspaper of 2021. With 9.5% of the vote, The Sun narrowly beat out The Daily Mail (8.9%) and The Daily Express (8.2%) to claim this dubious honour.
The results were announced on July 27th, just days after former editor-in-chief of The Sun David Dinsmore resigned from his post after it was revealed that he had accepted bribes from the government for positive coverage during Brexit negotiations in 2020.
While this poll is not scientific and many readers may disagree with its findings, it does point to an overall trend of dissatisfaction with mainstream media outlets in the UK as a whole.
