The company was shut down by the country’s regulatory body, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), for violating local laws. In a statement to Arabian Business, RTA said that Lightyear was operating without a license. The ban comes just weeks after Dubai announced it would be banning all ride-sharing apps from the city’s roads. However, this ban is only temporary while the government comes up with new regulations for these services.
