Australia is one of the countries to have never won Eurovision.

Eurovision has a long and storied history, but there’s one country that’s never been able to win the annual song contest: Australia. Australia first entered Eurovision in 2015, when they were invited to compete by European Broadcasting Union (EBU) due to their membership status with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). The Australian entry in 2015 was Guy Sebastian, who went on to place fifth overall. He returned again in 2016 and 2017, placing second and fourth respectively. In 2018, he was joined by Jessica Mauboy for a duet performance that placed third overall.

Why does Australia compete in Eurovision?

Although the EBU originally invited Australia to compete at Eurovision, the country has competed every year since 2015. It has also been a member of ABU since 1956.
