Elon Musk has said he wants to buy Twitter and delete it.

Elon Musk has announced his intention to buy Twitter. The SpaceX and Tesla founder tweeted on October 25th that he would be interested in buying the social media platform, claiming that he had “never used” the site but that it “seems like a cool thing.” Musk’s tweet came just hours after reports emerged that Google was in talks to purchase Twitter for $30 billion. Google has since denied these reports, but it seems Musk may have seen an opportunity to swoop in and buy the company for himself.

In a series of tweets on October 26th, Musk explained his interest in purchasing Twitter and why he thinks it could be beneficial for him. He wrote: “I don’t use [Twitter] & never will. Gives me the willies. Sorry.

“If I were to guess at what [Twitter] might be worth … say 10-20% of Facebook ($200bn-$400bn). Would create a feedback loop of attention & make everyone live in a broadcast world with potential for censorship & tyranny by troll armies, though many people would think that’s not bad.”
