Eileen Gu was a Chinese-American skier who competed for China in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Eileen Gu was born in China and moved to the United States when she was three years old. She grew up in New York and attended Yale University, where she studied economics. After graduating, Eileen decided to take up skiing and trained at Lake Placid Olympic Training Center. She then moved to Colorado Springs to train with the US Ski Team, competing for them at various events including the World Cup.

In 2018, Eileen Gu qualified for her first Winter Olympics as part of the Chinese team. This led to a lot of controversy from people questioning whether or not it was fair for an American athlete to compete for China. The International Olympic Committee said that it was fine as long as she had never represented another country before.
