Mumbai BJP president resigns after party workers protest against him.

Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar resigned on Monday after a section of party workers staged a protest against him for his alleged anti-BJP activities. The resignation came a day after the city unit of the BJP passed a resolution asking Shelar to step down from his post. Shelar, who was in Nagpur, said he was resigning as he had lost the confidence of party workers.

The development comes days after the Mumbai BJP unit passed a resolution asking Shelar to step down as he had allegedly worked against the party during last year’s Lok Sabha elections. The party also accused him of working for Congress candidates in civic body polls and speaking against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders.
