Andrew Luck has been a backup quarterback for the Miami Dolphins since March 2021.

Andrew Luck’s retirement in 2021 was a shock to many, but the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback says he’s happier than ever after taking a break from football. The now-Miami Dolphins backup QB made headlines in March 2021 when he announced his retirement at just 28 years old. Although many fans were disappointed to see him walk away from the game, it seems that Luck has no regrets about his decision.

Why did Andrew Luck retire?

Luck spent eight seasons with the Indianapolis Colts before announcing his retirement. Injuries plagued most of those seasons, as he missed significant time due to a lacerated kidney and torn abdominal muscle in 2013, an ankle injury in 2014, and an elbow injury in 2015. Despite this, Luck remained one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league until 2018 when he was sidelined for all of the season with shoulder problems. He attempted to return for 2019 but suffered another shoulder injury that ended his season before it began.

According to USA Today, Andrew Luck said he had no plans to retire when he spoke with reporters on March 1st during NFL free agency.
