American Idol contestant Gail Simmons was eliminated from the competition after her performance in the judges’ auditions. The episode aired on April 22nd, but she withdrew from the competition on April 27th, before making it to Hollywood. While some contestants have withdrawn from American Idol for personal reasons, such as a family emergency or illness, others have been forced to withdraw due to poor performances. The most recent of these was American Idol Season 13 contestant Gail Simmons.

What is American Idol?

American Idol is an American singing competition television series created by Simon Fuller and produced by FremantleMedia North America and 19 Entertainment. It first aired on June 11th, 2002 and ended its fifteenth season on May 21st, 2021. The show is hosted by Ryan Seacrest and judged by Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., with Randy Jackson returning as a judge for seasons ten through twelve only. The show’s format features contestants who sing in front of a panel of celebrity judges who provide comments about their performance; there are also live band performances that accompany them.

Who is Gail Simmons?

Gail Simmons is an American celebrity chef who currently hosts Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen and has appeared as a judge on Top Chef since 2010. She previously worked as an editor at Food & Wine magazine for over seven years before being named one of Esquire’s Best New Chefs in 2005.
