Alex Murdaugh, who worked as a senior research scientist at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, was accused of murdering his wife and son on May 16th, 2022. The pair were found dead in their home in Palo Alto by police officers responding to a 911 call placed by one of their neighbors. According to court documents obtained by BBC America, “both victims had sustained stab wounds to the neck area” when police arrived at the scene.
Murdaugh was charged with two counts of first degree murder after being arrested at his workplace on May 16th. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on May 17th and posted bail on June 1st after making an initial appearance in court.
