Theresa May has resigned as Prime Minister, and is expected to announce her departure from Parliament at the next election.

Theresa May has announced that she will be stepping down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The announcement comes just days after her Brexit deal was rejected by Parliament for a third time. It is expected that May will also announce her resignation from Parliament at the next election, though she has not yet confirmed this.

May’s resignation comes just weeks after Boris Johnson was appointed as Prime Minister, following his victory in the Conservative Party leadership contest. Johnson’s first major task as Prime Minister was to renegotiate Theresa May’s Brexit deal with the European Union, which he did successfully, only for it to be rejected by Parliament again on October 26th.

The decision came after a series of votes in which MPs voted against both Theresa May’s Brexit deal and leaving without a deal. As a result of this, many were calling for Theresa May to resign so that someone else could take over and get Britain out of the EU by any means necessary.
