A controversial decision by the NFL to overturn a touchdown for the Buffalo Bills against the New England Patriots has led to a federal investigation.

The National Football League (NFL) is investigating how and why a controversial call was made during the October 27th game between the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots. The game ended in a 22-21 win for the Patriots, but it was their touchdown that was overturned that caused outrage. During the fourth quarter, Tom Brady threw a pass to wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, who caught it in what appeared to be the end zone. Dorsett then ran towards the goal line and appeared to have scored. However, after review, officials ruled that Dorsett had fumbled before reaching across into the end zone.

This would have meant that Buffalo would have gotten possession of the ball with just over two minutes left on their own 20-yard line. Instead, New England got possession of it at their own 47-yard line with 1:12 left on their clock.

What is an NFL investigation?

The NFL has launched an investigation into how and why officials ruled that Dorsett had fumbled before reaching across into the end zone. The league has said that they will “take all appropriate steps” if they find any evidence of wrongdoing or negligence during this investigation.

Why did they overturn Wade vs Roes?

Wade vs Roes refers to an incident in which Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was penalized for diving over a pile of players while trying to score a touchdown against Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Perry. This happened during week 15 of season 2021 and also led to an overturned touchdown.
