The former US attorney was arrested on September 20th after allegedly being caught driving under the influence.

Tire Nichols, a former US attorney who helped convict Martha Stewart and Scooter Libby, was pulled over by police in New York City on September 20th for driving erratically. He has since apologized for his actions and said he will not be seeking reelection in 2022.

Nichols was arrested on September 20th after allegedly being caught driving under the influence. According to a report from the New York Police Department, he was stopped at around 1:30am for weaving through traffic and almost hitting other cars. He also reportedly failed to stop at a red light and drove into another lane of traffic before pulling over. Nichols did not appear to be intoxicated at the time of his arrest, but officers noticed that he had trouble staying awake.

Nichols served as US Attorney from 2007 until 2010 during President George W Bush’s administration. During this time, he helped convict Martha Stewart of securities fraud and Scooter Libby of perjury related to an investigation into the leaking of CIA agent Valerie Plame’s identity.
