Russia has banned BTS from entering the country due to their LGBT+ support.
The Russian government has banned BTS from entering the country due to the band’s alleged promotion of LGBT+ rights. The ban comes after some Russian politicians claimed that the band was promoting “homosexual propaganda” in their music and videos, according to CNN.
The BBC reports that an official document was published on Monday, September 9th, which lists BTS as one of 83 artists who are now banned from entering Russia.
The Independent reports that this is due to a law which prohibits foreign citizens who have used their position to “undermine [the] security of the Russian state” or spread “propaganda of non traditional sexual relations among minors” into Russia.
