Instagram has been down for users across the globe.
Instagram has been experiencing issues with its service for several hours now, leaving many of its 1 billion monthly active users unable to access the app or website. The issue was first reported on October 27th at around 3 p.m. ET, and it is still ongoing as of this writing at 5:30 p.m. ET.
The Instagram support team confirmed that they were aware of the issue via Twitter, but provided no further details on what might be causing it or when service would be restored.
What is Instagram?
Instagram is a social media platform that allows users to share photos and videos through a variety of filters, including Boomerang, Superzoom and Rewind effects. It was founded in 2010 by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and acquired by Facebook in 2012 for $1 billion USD.
