Lord Rama is a controversial Hindu deity, known for his blue skin.

Lord Rama is a deity from the ancient Hindu epic the Ramayana. In this story, Lord Rama was born to King Dasharatha of Ayodhya and Queen Kausalya. He had three brothers and four sisters, including Bharata, Lakshmana, Shatrughna and Shanta. After being born to the king and queen, Lord Rama was presented with a bow by the god Shiva and made ruler of the kingdom.

In Indian culture, Lord Rama is often depicted as having blue skin. This stems from an incident in which he shot an arrow into the sky in celebration after defeating Ravana. However, this enraged his wife Sita as she was worried that he would hurt himself with it. Sita grabbed her husband’s hand to stop him shooting any more arrows but accidentally pricked him with one of her fingernails. The blood that came out of Lord Rama’s finger stained his skin blue.
