The Weather Network is down, and Canadians are panicking.
It’s not just you: The Weather Network is experiencing technical difficulties across the country, and it’s freaking people out. It’s the peak of tornado season in Canada right now, so the timing of TWN going down couldn’t be worse.
TWN isn’t giving much information about what exactly is happening on their website or social media channels. On Twitter, they are directing users to their mobile app and telling them that they “are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.”
Users have been complaining about TWN being down for hours now. The outage map on Down Detector shows that the problems started at around 2:30 p.m. ET and have spread across most of Canada by 4:00 p.m.
Why does Canada need TWN?
“We don’t have any other choice,” says Dan Satterthwaite, a meteorologist with Environment Canada in Toronto who also hosts a weather podcast called “The Weather Network Podcast.” “In my opinion, it’s the best weather service available.”
