The UK is suffering from a heatwave.

In late October 2021, the United Kingdom is experiencing a heatwave. Temperatures have been soaring to around 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) and are expected to continue rising. So why is the UK so hot?

Why is the UK so hot?

The high temperatures in the UK are being caused by a hot air mass moving in from France and Spain. The Met Office has issued an amber alert for parts of England, Wales and Scotland, which means that there’s a 90% chance of heatwave conditions.

While it’s unusual for Britain to experience such high temperatures this late in the year, it’s not unheard of. In 2006, an extreme heatwave hit the country during October and November. During this time period, over 50 people died as a result of the extreme weather conditions.
