The flag of the United Kingdom has been flying at half mast since April 21st, when Queen Elizabeth II passed away. The Union Jack is normally flown at full mast to signify that a member of the royal family is in residence at Buckingham Palace. As there is no longer a member of the royal family residing there, it is being flown at half mast. The last time this happened was in 1952 when King George VI died.
