The coffin of the late Queen Elizabeth II was lined with a gold silk fabric.

The Queen Mother’s coffin was lined with a silk fabric made by the Royal School of Needlework, which is located in Hampton Court Palace. The school was founded by Queen Victoria in 1860 and provides training for women to learn skills such as embroidery, lace-making and tapestry. The coffin had been prepared for the monarch’s body to lie in state at Westminster Hall.

Why is there a crown on the coffin?

According to tradition, members of the royal family are not buried with an actual crown, but rather a replica is placed on their coffins. The replica is created from gilded silver and decorated with precious stones. It also contains replicas of diamonds from the original crown that has been worn by each monarch throughout their reigns.
