Rivian is a relatively new car company that’s been working on its electric pickup truck for years. The company is based in Michigan and was founded by R.J. Scaringe, who was previously the CEO of Tesla Motors. Rivian has been able to secure $700 million in funding, including a $500 million investment from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, which has helped it develop its first production vehicle: the R1T.
In July 2021, Rivian announced that it would be opening up pre-orders for the R1T pickup truck in September 2021. This caused a lot of excitement among fans of the company, as well as those who were looking forward to getting their hands on an electric vehicle.
However, things quickly took a turn when Rivian announced that it would not be delivering any vehicles until 2022 at the earliest. The announcement came just days after Ford cancelled its plans to build an all-electric Mustang due to “manufacturing constraints” and “market demand” issues.
