A bug has caused a glitch in Google’s Pixel 3 smartphones.

A glitch with the Pixel 3 smartphone’s display has left some users with a black screen. The issue, which has been dubbed “black smear”, causes the screen to become partially or completely unresponsive to touch.

Google said it was aware of the problem and working on a fix. The search giant added that there was no evidence that user data had been compromised.

What is the black smear?

The black smear, or “black smudging”, is an issue affecting the Pixel 3 XL smartphone that causes a portion of the screen to be unresponsive to touch.

In some cases, it can also cause sections of an image displayed on the screen to appear blurry or distorted.

It is believed that this is caused by issues with the touchscreen controller in some handsets. It appears that this issue may be more common among devices running Android Pie than those running Android Oreo.
