The festival of Lohri is celebrated in India, Pakistan and Nepal on the last day of the month of Magh (January–February).

Lohri is a Punjabi harvest festival that is celebrated in India, Pakistan and Nepal. It falls on the last day of the month of Magh (January–February) and marks the end of winter. In fact, this year it will be celebrated on January 13th. The celebrations are centred around a bonfire which is lit to signify the coming spring. Lohri songs are sung to welcome springtime and encourage warmth.

People also sing traditional songs that describe how winter has passed and how spring has arrived. Traditional food such as churma (a sweet made from wheat flour), sevian (deep-fried vermicelli) and lassi (a yoghurt drink) are eaten to celebrate the occasion.
