Why is Kevin James not in Hotel Transylvania 4

Kevin James is not in Hotel Transylvania 4, but he did make a cameo in the first three films.

The fourth installment of the Hotel Transylvania franchise, Hotel Transylvania 4: Summer Vacation, is set to hit theaters on July 13th. It will be the first film in the series without Adam Sandler’s character Dracula and instead focus on his daughter Mavis and her friends taking a cruise. It will also be the first film without Kevin James as Frankenstein, who was absent from Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. The film’s co-director Genndy Tartakovsky has said that there are “no plans” for Kevin James to return to the franchise. However, James does have a cameo in all three previous films.

In 2012’s Hotel Transylvania, Adam Sandler plays Dracula who is trying to give his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) a normal human life despite her being a vampire. In order to help him out with this task, he enlists the help of his friends Frankenstein (Kevin James), Murray (Steve Buscemi), Wayne (CeeLo Green), Griffin (David Spade), and Quasimodo (Andy Samberg). In an early scene of the movie when Mavis goes out with her friends to try and fit in with humans, she runs into Kevin James who plays an annoying human named Jonathan.
