Johnny Depp was in court on October 27th for a hearing about the living conditions of his dogs. The actor is accused of neglecting his pets, and the case has been ongoing since May 2018. This is the third time that Johnny Depp has appeared in court to defend himself against these allegations.
What happened at Johnny Depp’s trial?
Depp’s lawyer Adam Waldman said that his client had no knowledge of how his staff were caring for the dogs, and that he wasn’t aware of the alleged conditions until after he had left the property. Waldman said that there were multiple security guards on site, who were responsible for taking care of the animals. However, District Judge Deborah Batts dismissed this claim, saying “that just doesn’t make sense.” Batts also ordered an independent expert to examine Boo and Pistol after she noticed their weight loss.
What is going to happen next?
“The judge didn’t give any indication as to when she would rule,” says The Hollywood Reporter. “But given her comments from today’s hearing — where she expressed dismay at Depp’s decision not to appear in person — it seems unlikely that he will get off without some sort of penalty.”
