Godzilla was one of the first monster movies to be produced in color. While Godzilla is often depicted as a green lizard, he was originally portrayed as a pink monster. The original 1954 Godzilla film only featured black and white footage, but the American version of the movie, which came out in 1956, featured colorized scenes. It was this version that most people saw and it’s how Godzilla became known as a green lizard for most of his history.
