The Mozilla Foundation has been accused of deliberately slowing down the Firefox browser, with a new study claiming that it’s done so in order to push users towards its newer products. The report, published by the American Action Forum, argues that Mozilla’s decision to deprecate support for older versions of Firefox has had a detrimental effect on performance. The foundation itself has previously stated that it would stop supporting older versions of its browser in order to encourage users to upgrade.

Mozilla is a non-profit organisation which develops open source software, including the popular Firefox web browser. Its latest version is called Quantum and was released in November 2018. However, the foundation has also been working on an update called Photon which will replace all other versions of Firefox and which will have a different interface from previous releases.

The report argues that this move away from legacy browsers is deliberate and will force users to use the latest version of Firefox or face poor performance.
