Facebook’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that he will be focusing more on his role as chairman, rather than as the day-to-day chief executive of the social media giant. As such, Facebook has started looking for a new CEO. But why is Facebook jumping around? And what does this mean for its users?
What does ‘chairman’ mean?
The chairman of a company is the person who heads up the board of directors and acts as a spokesperson for the business. In some cases, such as at Facebook, there can be multiple chairmen on a board – but in most cases there’s just one.
What does ‘CEO’ mean?
The CEO is the chief executive officer, or the person who oversees all aspects of running a company. It can also be referred to as “chief executive officer” or simply “chief executive”.
What will happen to Facebook if it doesn’t find a new CEO soon?
If Facebook can’t find someone willing to take over from Mark Zuckerberg soon, it may have to appoint an interim CEO until they do.
