Carhartt WIP was criticized for its Spring/Summer 2020 campaign.

After Carhartt WIP released its Spring/Summer 2020 campaign, the fashion brand was met with a barrage of criticism from the public. The company received backlash for its use of models that were seemingly underweight and ill-looking. In addition to this, the clothing brand’s slogan “Worn by those who work hard” was also met with a lot of criticism.

The Carhartt WIP campaign featured four models wearing the brand’s signature workwear in various different settings. One model is seen in a city setting wearing a jacket, another is pictured in a park donning a jacket and overalls, while another is shown sitting on an old chair in an abandoned building wearing only jeans and boots. The final model is pictured standing outside of what appears to be an abandoned factory or warehouse building. Although each model seems to be dressed appropriately for their setting, many people have taken issue with their appearance.

Why are people mad at Carhartt?

The first issue many people had with the Carhartt WIP campaign was that all four models featured appeared to be extremely thin and underweight. While it’s true that there are naturally thin people out there who would look great in these clothes, many viewers were concerned about whether or not these models were healthy enough to wear them without being too cold or too hot.

How did Carhartt respond?
