Russian forces have invaded Ukraine, but the move has been met with a relatively muted response from the international community.

Russian forces have crossed into Ukrainian territory, prompting fears of a full-scale invasion. On October 27th, Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko declared martial law in the country after Russian forces reportedly fired on Ukrainian positions and entered several towns in the southern part of the country. The move comes just weeks after a shaky ceasefire was agreed upon between Russia and Ukraine, ending months of violence that began when Russia annexed Crimea in 2014.

Despite this latest development, there has been relatively little reaction from the international community. While some countries have called for an emergency meeting of NATO to discuss what can be done to help Ukraine, others are simply urging both sides to show restraint.
