The Gujarat Lions are a professional cricket team based in Rajkot, India. The team plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and is one of the eight founding members of the league. The side is owned by Ami Shah, who also owns another IPL franchise, Rising Pune Supergiants.

The franchise was established as an associate member of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 19 September 2015 and was officially launched on 21 October 2015 at a function held at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Mumbai. The name “Gujarat Lions” was unveiled on 15 November 2015. They played their first match on 5 April 2016 against Mumbai Indians at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
