Uhtred was raised by his uncle, Lord Uhtred, and became one of his top warriors. However, he has been conflicted between his Saxon roots and his Danish heritage since childhood. This conflict continues throughout the series, with him switching sides multiple times.
In Death to 2021, Brida has been chosen to portray Uhtred’s mother in a film about her life called Alfrun: The Viking Queen. In this film, Brida will play Alfrun and her daughter will play young Alfrun. The movie will be directed by Paul Greengrass (who previously directed Captain Phillips) and produced by Ridley Scott (who previously directed Gladiator, Alien, and Blade Runner) along with his brother Tony Scott (who previously directed Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and Beverly Hills Cop II) .
