Rory Cowan has left Mrs Brown’s Boys.

Rory Cowan has left Mrs Brown’s Boys after more than three decades as Agnes Brown’s son Rory. The 58-year-old actor, who was born in Dublin, played the role of Agnes’ son for 31 years, but announced he was leaving the show last year. It came as a shock to fans of the show and cast members alike, but it seems that Rory had been considering his exit for some time.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment in an exclusive interview, Rory revealed that he was already thinking about leaving the show before Brendan O’Carroll even began writing it. He explained: “When I first met Brendan I told him that I would never do this for more than five years. He said ‘that’s fine by me because if you don’t like it you can leave whenever you want. If you don’t like it after five years we won’t make any more shows with you in them and we will make sure you go out on a high note.’

“I thought that sounded fair enough so I agreed to do it.”
