In late 2021, the Supreme Court overturned the landmark decision Roe v. Wade.

On October 25th, 2021, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that Roe v. Wade was unconstitutional. The landmark decision that legalized abortion in all 50 states was ruled to be in violation of federal law and therefore no longer binding. This decision has been met with both praise and condemnation from various parties.

What is Roe v. Wade?

Roe v. Wade is a landmark 1973 court case which legalized abortion across all 50 states of the United States of America.

What did Roe v. Wade say?

The court’s 7-2 ruling stated that a woman’s right to privacy under the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment extended to her decision to have an abortion, but that this right must be balanced against a state’s interest in regulating abortions performed after fetal viability (the point at which a fetus can survive outside of its mother’s womb). The court said that after viability, states may regulate abortions only if they do not impose an undue burden on a woman seeking an abortion.
