Paul Casey withdrew from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday, August 18th, 2019. The English golfer was forced to pull out of the tournament after suffering a back injury during his third round. Casey revealed that he had been playing with a bad back for several weeks and that it was getting worse as the tournament progressed. He said that he would be undergoing an MRI scan and hoped to play in the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.

The 39-year-old is not expected to miss any further tournaments this season, but it is unclear whether he will be fit enough to compete in the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.
