Why did Freddie Freeman leave the Braves

The Atlanta Braves star is leaving the team after 10 seasons.

The Atlanta Braves have lost one of their most valuable players. Freddie Freeman, who has been with the team since 2008, is leaving the team to sign with the New York Yankees. Freeman was a first-round draft pick for the Braves in 2007 and quickly became one of their best players. He was named an All-Star in 2013 and has been named to four National League teams over his career. Freeman also won a Silver Slugger Award in 2014 and led the National League in home runs twice, including this year.

Freeman had a great deal of success with the Braves, but he also had plenty of help from other players on his team. His long-time teammate Nick Markakis left for free agency last year and ended up signing with division rival Washington Nationals. In fact, several key players left Atlanta this offseason including pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Kevin Gausman as well as outfielder Adam Duvall.

With so many key players gone from his former team, it’s no surprise that Freeman decided to leave too. While he’s not getting any younger at age 30, he still remains an excellent player who can help any Major League Baseball franchise win games.
