The FDA has announced that it will be banning e-cigarettes in the US, including Juul.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that it will be banning e-cigarettes in the US, including Juul. The ban is set to come into effect on 31st December 2021. This follows a study published by the FDA on 15th October which found that Juul had used a nicotine delivery system that was more addictive than others on the market. The study also found that users of Juul could not control their nicotine intake as well as other e-cigarette users.

Juul is an e-cigarette which was designed to look like a USB flash drive and was released in 2015. It’s considered to be one of the most popular e-cigarettes on the market, with over 70% of high school students having tried it at least once according to a survey conducted by Truth Initiative. The product is also popular among adults, with around 40% of smokers using an e-cigarette such as Juul at least once per month.

Why did FDA ban Juul?

Juuling is a term used for smoking from an electronic cigarette such as Juul. It became popular after celebrities began posting videos of themselves doing so online and is considered to be an epidemic among teenagers across America. In response to this, the FDA has decided to ban all electronic cigarettes from being sold or distributed in America from 31st December 2021 onwards.

In October 2018, former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg donated $500 million towards funding research into preventing tobacco use among young people across America. This followed reports that more than 2 million Americans were using tobacco products every year despite being under 18 years old and many were doing so through vaping devices such as Juuls. This led many health officials to call for greater restrictions on vaping devices and similar products across America.
