Eve announced on October 29th that she was leaving Queen, the band she had fronted since 2014. The announcement came as a shock to fans, many of whom took to social media to express their sadness at her departure. Eve had taken over from Freddie Mercury in 2014, after he passed away. She is one of several people who have fronted Queen since Mercury’s death and is the longest serving member of the band since his passing.
Why did Eve leave Queen?
The official statement from Eve announcing her departure from Queen did not give a reason for her leaving. However, it did suggest that it was amicable and that she would continue to be involved with the band in some capacity going forward. In an interview with NME published on October 30th, Eve said that she left because “I don’t want to do this forever…I think I’m going to be done by 40.” She also said that she wanted to focus more on her solo career and acting work.
