Who is Christopher Scarver?
Christopher Scarver is a former inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage, Wisconsin. In 1994, he beat Jeffrey Dahmer to death with a metal bar in his prison cell. After this murder, Scarver told reporters that he killed Dahmer because he wanted to stop him from killing again. Before his arrest for murder and rape in 1989, Scarver had been serving life without parole for killing his boss during a robbery attempt.
Why did Christopher Scarver kill Jeffrey Dahmer?
On November 28th 1991, prisoners at Columbia Correctional Institution were allowed access to their cells between 9am and 3pm each day for recreational purposes. During this time period on that day, Jeffrey Dahmer went into the shower room alone with another inmate named Christopher Scarver.
Scarver said that he remembered seeing news reports about the murders committed by Jeffrey Dahmer just days before and wanted to stop him from killing again.
