It’s hard to believe that a team that has been around for over 100 years is also one of the newest. The Buffalo Bills are actually the oldest team in the NFL, having been founded in 1959. They were originally named after a popular local tavern called “The Bull and Bush”, which was frequented by players from the University of Buffalo. The name was officially changed to “Bills” after being chosen by a contest held by their founder and owner, Ralph Wilson Jr.
Despite being one of the newest teams in existence, they have won two Super Bowls and appeared in four others. They were also named as one of Forbes Magazine’s most valuable franchises, with an estimated value of $1.6 billion.
