Interstate highways in Hawaii are a unique feature of the islands.

Hawaii is a special state. It’s one of the most remote locations in the United States, and it’s also one of the most isolated places on Earth. Hawaii is made up of eight major islands, but there are also several smaller islands that belong to the state. These smaller islands include Kahoʻolawe, Lānaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi, Niʻihau and Kahoolawe. Despite its isolation from other parts of the country, Hawaii does have some Interstate Highways. Interstate H-1 runs from Honolulu to Waikīkī Beach on Oʻahu Island and Interstate H-2 runs from Waikīkī Beach to Haleakalā National Park on Maui Island.

Interstate H-3 runs from Hilo to Puna on Hawaiʻi Island and Interstate H-4 runs from Pearl Harbor to Kahe Point at the northern tip of Oʻahu Island. Interstate H-5 runs from Kailua Bay on Oʻahu Island to Lihu‘e on Kaua‘i Island and Interstate H-6 runs from Kekaha at the southeastern tip of Kaua‘i Island to Kapaau at the southwestern tip of Hawaiʻi Island.
